City Centre Garage
Waterproofing

frontstreet-garageWater can be very destructive to concrete parking structures. Water comes into CCDC parking garages on vehicles and exposed decks during rain and snow events. Where there is finished space below a garage deck, it has been the Agency’s practice to waterproof those deck surfaces to prevent water intrusion into building spaces below. Typical CCDC practice has also been to waterproof the exposed roof deck.

CCDC built the City Centre Parking Garage, located at 312 N. 9th Street, in 1999-2000. At the time it was built, a waterproofing membrane was installed on Level 1 to protect the basement and on Level 2 to protect the ground floor office spaces used by the Greater Boise Auditorium District. The roof deck, Level 8, was not waterproofed at that time. The existing waterproofing now shows signs of deterioration and it is advisable to waterproof the roof deck.

This construction project included renovating the existing waterproofing on Levels 1 and 2 and installing a new waterproofing membrane on part of Level 7 and the entire Level 8 of the City Centre Parking Garage. The Level 7 waterproofing will protect the susceptible portion that deck from precipitation flowing down from Level 8. This project was managed by Ben Houpt.
