CCDC Team Tours New Downtown Building!

August 16, 2016

News & Notes

IMG_0221Recently, CCDC staff had the opportunity to tour the new Clearwater Analytics Building; the Boise Centre’s Expansion building (Boise Centre East); and and Valley Regional Transit’s new Main Street Station (located underground). These are all under construction as part of the City Center project  located adjacent to The Grove Plaza. The new buildings, totaling over 350,000 SF will feature 14 elevators, 3 escalators, and 3 lobbies! The lobbies will service three of the primary tenants – Clearwater Analytics, Boise State University’s Computer Science Department, and Boise Centre East.

The ground floor of the building will have 25,000 SF of retail/restaurant space opening onto The Grove Plaza. Main Street Station will have 8 bus bays and public restrooms. Next door to the Clearwater Building is Boise Centre East, which will add approximately 30,000 SF of convention space to the facility and 75 public parking stalls in the parking garage.

Basketball CourtAdditional highlights of the tour included the 9th floor basketball court for Clearwater Analytics employees, and self-tinting windows in Boise Centre’s convention space which will minimize the heat effects from solar radiation.

These new uses are expected to bring thousands more people to downtown Boise every year, and CCDC’s renovation of The Grove Plaza will help service this additional need for downtown public space and amenities. The buildings are expected to open in the fall of 2016. Additional renovation to the existing Boise Centre is occurring and will be completed in late 2017. With the exception of the south spoke, The Grove Plaza is on schedule to reopen in late 2016.

A big thank you to representatives from Gardner Company, ESI Construction, Boise Centre, and VRT who were all kind enough to take us on a nearly two-hour tour of the buildings!
