Boise GreenBike Program

Boise GreenBike provides people who live, work or visit Boise with a new mobility option. It’s a convenient and healthy way of getting from one place to another, all without contributing to traffic congestion or air pollution. Boise GreenBike is using the very latest technology to make your bike sharing experience simple and enjoyable. The rugged bikes are made by Social Bicycles, a New York based company on the cutting edge of mobility technology.

bikeThe basic infrastructure has been paid for with a federal grant, but the operational funding will come from a combination of user fees, sponsorships, and advertising. The organization will reinvest the revenues into expanding the system and serving even more people in coming years. Boise GreenBike is a service of Valley Regional Transit (VRT). CCDC is involved as a partner on this project with VRT, the Central District Health Department, and Boise State University.  A cooperative agreement was executed to use CCDC’s 2014 VRT annual dues toward design and development of bike stations within the River Myrtle-Old Boise urban renewal district. Additionally, CCDC is a sponsor for two of the bike share stations. One is located on the West Spoke of The Grove Plaza, and one at the corner of Fairview at Grove Streets next to the Red Lion hotel.

CCDC sees the partnership as an essential piece to promoting mobility options and sustainability downtown.
