The Grove Plaza renovation is in full swing again.  CCDC’s contractor, McAlvain Companies Inc., has secured a construction area on the south spoke and central plaza creating a safe work zone to resume renovation activities. Initial start-up and testing of The Grove Plaza fountain began on April 3 with great success. The 30 day commissioning period is now underway during which the pumps will be calibrated,  custom water display programs will be installed, and extensive quality assurance procedures will be completed. Brick paving has resumed in front of Boise Centre West’s main entrance which remains open for access to events at Boise Centre.  Deep excavation for the storm water system is also underway in the south spoke. A pedestrian thoroughfare remains in place through the south spoke.  Other finishing touches are beginning to appear. The Grove Plaza illuminated feature signs were installed on Boise Centre’s concourse, plaza speakers are being installed, and custom inlayed plaza icons are now on the north spoke.

What to Expect

Construction activities will continue through April and May with construction fences being pulled back incrementally as portions of the plaza improvements are completed. The renovation will be substantially complete by June 1, with the entire again open to the public.  Through the month of June crews will periodically be on the plaza fine tuning the new systems and completing punch list items, but their work will be isolated and not require further closures.
