12th to 16th Street

Construction Updates:

Work on the Rebuild Bannock Street: 12th Street to 13th Street project is progressing to Phase 3 which will focus on streetscape improvements, roadway reconstruction at 13th Street, and underground utility work. Veolia water improvements are fully complete.

Starting May 20, both northbound and southbound lanes on 13th Street between Bannock Street and Jefferson Street will be closed. Bannock Street between 12th Street and 13th Street will remain closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.

Please follow posted detours. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to make these important improvements.

Vehicle Access:

• • Starting May 20, both northbound and southbound lanes on 13th Street will be closed.
    • Access to Saint Paul Baptist Church from 13th Street will be blocked
    • Parking lot access will be available via Bannock Street from 14th Street
  • Bannock Street between 12th Street and 13th Street will also be closed.
    • Parking access to Idaho Film Society and the Idaho Power lot (south of Bannock Street) will be available via 12th Street

Pedestrian Access:

• • The west sidewalk on 13th Street (between Bannock Street and the alley near Jefferson Street) will be closed

  • Both sidewalks on Bannock Street (between 12th Street and 13th Street) will be closed

About the Project:

Rebuild Bannock Street – 12th Street to 16th Street – improves overall safety, comfort, and accessibility by:

• • Adding traffic signals at the Bannock Street intersections at 15th Street and 16th Street.
  • Rebuilding sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, driveway approaches, and adding street trees.
  • Adding curb extensions at intersections to shorten crossing distance and increase visibility for pedestrians.
  • Repaving the road and updating an aging underground canal crossing below Bannock Street to ensure irrigation flow into the future.

Project Timeline:

• Spring 2023 – Gathering feedback and information from property owners and additional stakeholders on problems, issues, needs, and opportunities along the corridor.
• Summer 2023 – Draft concept design developed
• Fall 2023 – Final concept design
• Fall 2023 – Summer 2024 – Technical design
• Summer/Fall 2024 – Permitting approvals
• January 2025 – Construction starts on 13th Street to 16th Street blocks
• October 2025 – Completion of 13th Street to 16th Street blocks
• Spring 2026 – Construction starts on 12th Street to 13th Street block
