Rebuild Bannock Street
13th to 16th Street

Streetscape and intersection updates to improve pedestrian and bike connectivity from the West Downtown Neighborhood into downtown Boise.

Construction Update: May  2, 2025

The intersection of 15th Street and Bannock Street will be closed starting May 5 through early July. This closure, along with closure of Bannock Street between 13th Street to 15th Street, is part of the next phase of the Rebuild Bannock Street project. The intersection of 14th Street and Bannock Street will be open during the detour.

This phase focuses on construction of the new traffic signal at the intersection of 15th Street and Bannock Street, creating a safer and more accessible crossing for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists in this high-traffic area. Over the next few weeks, crews will demolish the roadway and sidewalks and install underground utilities to support upgraded stormwater infrastructure and the new traffic signal. Crews will also continue pouring the curb, gutter and sidewalk along Bannock Street between 13th Street and 15th Street.

Vehicle Access:

Beginning May 5, the intersection of 15th Street and Bannock Street will be closed until early July. Bannock Street between 13th Street and 14th Street and between 14th Street and 15th Street will also be closed to traffic. The 14th Street intersection will remain open.

Pedestrian Access:
The sidewalks on the north and south sides of Bannock Street, between 13th Street and 15th Street, are closed as well as the crossings at the 15th Street intersection. Please follow the pedestrian detours.

Background

Bannock Street is an important pedestrian and cyclist route that needs improvements to make it safe and accessible to all.

CCDC is improving the experience for those traveling into and out of Downtown Boise from west downtown neighborhoods by rebuilding the streetscape, adding fully signalized intersections at 15th and 16th Streets, and improving the existing bike network.
