Communications Specialist

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Hiring range: $64,000 – $68,500 DOE

Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC) is the redevelopment agency for Boise, Idaho, founded by the City of Boise in 1965 to function as the City’s urban renewal agency. CCDC is a public agency governed by an appointed Board of Commissioners that catalyzes investment in the city through its own capital projects and public-private partnerships. CCDC focuses its work on economic development, infrastructure, place making, and mobility in six redevelopment districts. This Opportunity:

CCDC is seeking a qualified professional passionate about communicating CCDC’s mission, purpose, current activities, and news through a diverse platform of communication channels. Our ideal candidate is team-oriented and wants to support CCDC through all forms of media as well as through positive, professional, and friendly interactions with public and private partners. We are looking for someone ready to bring their previous experience and a desire to develop new skills to our team. Employees must be based within driving distance of the CCDC office located in downtown Boise near the intersection of 9th and Idaho Streets.

About your role in the position:

As a Communications Specialist, you will work collaboratively with the Senior Communications Advisor on all Agency communications, marketing, public relations and social media initiatives. You will be responsible for conducting positive, professional, and friendly interactions with the general public, neighborhood associations, interested non-profit organizations, private developers, and intergovernmental partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with CCDC’s Senior Communications Advisor in creating and implementing public engagement initiatives and Agency-wide public communications through the various channels
  • Ensure consistent and effective messaging across multiple platforms
  • Convey technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Draft written materials, website content, and professional presentations
  • Represent CCDC in public venues such as the news and media and open houses; fields inquiries from media, and identifies and informs the appropriate Agency spokesperson while providing communications support and follow-up

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Three (3) years of experience in community/public relations, marketing/advertising, or community development in an urban setting interacting with the public on complex projects in varying media
  • Experience working with public information/communications
  • Any combination of experience and training that provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skill, and technical ability to properly perform the work as described
