8th Street Improvements
State Street to Franklin Street
Community-driven infrastructure improvements that spur economic growth and neighborhood vitality.
Background
Between 2018 and 2021, CCDC and the City of Boise collaborated to extend the citywide bike path and streetscapes on the three blocks of 8th Street between Bannock and State Streets. As a result of the collaboration and extensive community and stakeholder outreach, CCDC will deliver on the community’s desire to:
- Expand the citywide bike network by adding protected northbound and southbound bike lanes
- Improve pedestrian safety and accessibility by installing new flashing pedestrian signals at Washington Street and Franklin Street
- Construct accessible sidewalks and pedestrian ramps to accommodate individuals of all abilities
Construction will begin in January 2025, with an anticipated completion date of October 2025. Road and sidewalk closures will begin on January 7, 2025. CCDC will work with ACHD to ensure alternative routes for those traveling through the area.
Project Summary
CCDC is partnering with ACHD to improve the cycling and pedestrian experience between State and Union. CCDC will address improvements between State and Franklin, and ACHD will implement improvements between Franklin and Union.
